Generations of Horticultural Excellence
Shore Acres Plant Farm is owned by a fourth-generation nurseryman and horticulturist. It was started from the back of the truck by the owner’s grandfather selling azaleas on the side of Bellingrath Road. The owner’s father started Shore Acres Plant Farm in 1978; he was also a horticulturist sold blooming annuals and bedding plants to former regional retail chains.
Regional Reach and Growth
- Currently an operation that ships a 300-mile shipping radius of Theodore, Al. It has been a thriving business before its MBE status in 2005.
- Today, Shore Acres handles over 200 species of plant material and creates a finished, quality product for the consumer in several container sizes.
Expanding Beyond Nursery Operations
Since Shore Acres is categorized as a plant farm, its potential far extends beyond the plant nursery classification. Shore Acres deals with vegetable plant liners, organic and herbal plant production, native plant production for beach or marsh restoration, not to mention online purchase presence.
